The College also has Bus facility for its students for transporting girl students from the hostel to College and College to Hostel, for conducting subject tours and other educational outings. In addition to the above-mentioned scholarships, Financial Assistance is given to the deserving poor students by the college out of the students, Aid Fund. However, the criteria for the concerned committee decides the financial assistance to the deserving students appointed for the purpose on the basis of guidelines issued by the Govt. Apart from this there is Sahara Scholarship for NCC cadets.
Students are required to apply for various Scholarships or Financial Assistance on the prescribed application form. The scholarships and financial assistance are however to deserving students subject to the following conditions:


a) A good conduct.

b) Satisfactory progress report in the studies.

c) Regularity in attendance.

d) A report of tutor in-charge.

e) Income/Category certificates issued by the competent authority.

f) Guardians of the students applying for any scholarship must give an undertaking that in case his/her ward participates in strikes or any other subversive activities, he/she will refund the amount of the scholarship received by his/her ward in one installment.

To field the students of this remote and far-flung area for competition in line with rest of the country in general and our state in particular and to give counseling in job oriented fields,with the utmost efforts of the college administration, UGC funded career counseling cell has been established in this institution.

For developing the sense of competition, educational and behavioral knowledge, entrepreneurship , selfemployability and job security among the learners, the cell provides coaching for various competitive examinations and entry into Govt.services Extensions career oriented lectures in the field of Banking,Accountancy,Enterpreneour ship Handicraft, Food processing,masroom cultivation,Bee keeping etc are arranged.

The College Canteen which was totally damaged in the earthquake of 2005 has been repaired and renovated and is function to the entire satisfaction of the students and staff.Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education during his visit was served a cup of tea in the Canteen and he appreciated the functioning of Canteen.

The college is also having first aid medical facility. The disrict hospital Poonch is remained always at work for giving its services to the college. The College library at present has a collection of about 45000 books. Every student has to deposit a security of Rs 30/-.The security is refunded every year in the month of June only. The claim for the refund should be accompanied by a "No Demand" certificate from the Librarian and various Text- book sections of the College Departments and it should be made within a reasonable time after leaving the College, but not later than two years in any case. There is a reading room attached to the College Library. About 20 magazines, newspapers and journals etc. are being subscribed for enhancing the general knowledge of the students.

LIBRARY

The Library presently observes the same working hours and holidays as the College. It remains open for the students during the summer vacation from 8 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. unless notified otherwise.

Every student at the time of borrowing books from the library shall present to the librarian his/her Identity Card. A person borrowing books from the library shall be held responsible for any loss of pages or damage of the book and he/she will have to pay fine in addition to double the cost of that book.

Lecturers are not allowed to take more than ten books at a time. No member of the College staff" may borrow books from the library on his own name for the use of the students.

Member of the College staff or the establishment at the time of leaving the College on transfer retirement or otherwise return all the books borrowed by them before the L. R C. or "No Demand" certificate is issued in their favour.

Students can borrow only two books at a time, which include at least one book of the subject taken by him/her.

Students must return books taken by them within fifteen days.Any student retaining a book after the time allowed shall have to pay a fine of Re l/-per day volume until the same is returned, provided the fine incurred shall not exceed double the cost of the book

The Librarian shall keep a record of the book issued. In the beginning of every month or at the time of realization of dues by t6he cashier, librarian shall submit to the office a list of fine imposed on students for late return of books. They shall have to deposit the fine with the College cashier within seven days of the submission of the list, failing which the student will not be allowed to the classes.

Books required by lecturers of the College, if borrowed by any other person, must be returned on the receipt of a notice issued from the librarian.

The same person may borrow no book for the second time within two days from the date of its return by him/her. This rule, however, does not apply to lecturers of the College.

Any person who either lost a book or torn, defaced and damage it, shall be liable to pay an amount not less than double the cost of the book. When it belongs to a set or series, and unless he can replace it, he shall be liable to pay the cost of the whole set or series.

Students free from lecture work may visit the library during the College hours. No talking or disturbance of any kind is allowed in the library. Any infringement of this rule shall incur punishment/fine.

Library is meant only for the use of those persons who are directly or indirectly connected with the academic life of the College.

Books of the following description shall not be removed from the library except for a night that too only by a lecturer of the College with special permission of the Principal in writing.

All books shall have to be returned to the library every year at the time of stock checking, especially in April-May. The librarian shall make a report of books found damaged/ missing to the Principal, soon after the stock checking is over. During the period of stock checking, no person except with the special permission of the Principal shall have the access to the library.

Lecturers of the College, who, wish to retain certain books during the summer vacation, shall have to return the same to the library at the time of stock checking.

To meet out the educational requirement of those enrolled students  who are with poor educational  background and belonging to reserve categories of SC,ST,OBC and minorities  and below poverty line families of this remote and far-flung area the college has started a remedial coaching cell funded by UGC in the month of July 2010. With the start of such healthy and students friendly cell in the college these learns are encouraged  to compete with rest of the students. Almost all the subjects which are offered by the college are covered under this scheme taking onto consideration of demand and need of the students. Poonch in general and Govt. Degree College Poonch in particular have always remained in the forefront for its participation and performance in games and sports in the inter-collegiate and inter-university sports competitions. Games and sports activities are going in this college as extracurricular activities since its establishment in 1955.tudents of this college are encouraged to participate indiffent sports events at state and national level. They are participating in the games of Hockey, Foot Ball,Volly Ball,Kabbadi,Cricket,Kho-Kho,Table Tennis,Badminton,Boxing,Weight Lifting,Carrom,Cross Country,Athletics etc.
The college has one spacious playground, one indoor sports Hall to cater the need of the players .The college administration managed to avail the services of local coaches of various games for the players.The department of Physical Education has got Rs.3 lakh under SAP for the purchase of sports equipments and materials for the players and hoped that with the purchase of these articles the department will work with still more vigor and determination.
